Biography:

BIOGRAPHY
My name is William NGENDANDUMWE born at Kigali 1977.My arts interest begun from my childhood when I used to read comic books and got interested by doing the same .I dreamed of being artist but I also loved Geography and Languages. But I went to learn Chemistry and Math, after I changed a school to learn Languages.
1994 became the hardest year to me. I lost my beloved father during war and Genocide in Rwanda which affected me very much because I had to stop my studies to work for my family.
In 1995 I started to do arts as my profession helped by my brother-in–law who introduced me to some techniques of Branding and doing Sign posts; I have for many Societies and Shops meanwhile doing interior designs.
1997 I took a decision to work for myself. This was light to my career .I started to buy read many art books about drawing, sketching, doing portraits by pencils, water colors, pastels, oil…
In mid 1997 I received oil paint , framed canvas and artist’s brushes as gift from my friend from Belgium, and did my first painting ”fruits still life”, but before I had done many pencils and water colors’ sketches .
I have done many comics but one of them was awarded 5th place in a competition about children rights, organized by IBARWA (a Rwandan Association of Writers).
2004 started to do many paintings inspired by many sketches I had done before. One of them is “A girl playing flute”. I used to do Realism paintings but I started to do some abstract and cubism sketches. To visit many exhibitions inspired me to make paintings.
There was only one place many artists used to exhibit: FRENCH CULTURAL CENTER in Kigali; but some artists exhibited also in Hotels like Novotel Umubano.
I dreamed of doing my solo exhibition and travel (It’s the reason why I started to learn more languages including Spanish, Italian, German and a little bit Portuguese apart French English and Swahili) but I had to wait some years. .
2005-2006 I made many designs in different houses and Bars and did many realism paintings, but I was not known.
2006 I started to work in Ivuka arts where I exhibited my paintings.
2010 I made exhibition in American Embassy at Kigali with IVUKA ARTS.
Mid 2010-2012 I went to work with UBURANGA ARTS STUDIO
2011 I sent my paintings to Japan for exhibition by IZUMI TANAKA one of my best friends.
2011 I started to work with We Act in it’s project of teaching youth in camp
2012 I made my first solo exhibition in HEAVEN RESTAURANT
2013 I started to work with some one called Keren in a project called ”I PAINR YOU SING”. Which interested me much; it’s about helping youth to know a relation between Music and Painting, where they try to play a game in which one group of children play musical instruments including come kitchen tools. And other group tries to paint following the music rhythm. Now I have to spread my knowledge and experience in different places starting by Africa in a personal
